Wouldn’t it be nice if you had a wall socket that can extend itself so you don’t have to spend that extra money or use up extra space to put an extension cord? Meysam Movahedi recently just introduced the Rambler Socket, a socket with extension cord rolled up behind the wall. All you need to do is pull out the cord and connect to whatever you want, and once you’re done, a slight tug will activate a spring mechanism that automatically winds it back into the wall; say goodbye to multiple wall sockets at every corner of your house because your vacuum cleaner cord just won’t reach out so far. While this is something very neat to have around your house, it would be better if it had some child-lock mechanism.
Earlier this month, I also came across an article that teaches you how to make your own in-wall USB sockets, all you need is a couple of USB chargers, a blank wall plate, and an existing wall duplex and you’re about 30 minutes away from having your own USB wall socket. It’ll be very convenient to have a few of these around the house; at least you don’t have to turn on your computer the next time you want to charge your gadgets.
